Banks and Financial Institutions
Disputed ATM withdrawals, check fraud and account-takeover cases often surface months after the event, long after branch recorders have overwritten the video. MARCIA™ keeps recent footage on fast disk and preserves long-term video economically on LTO, so banks can keep more of every branch's history and find it on the same VMS timeline.
The challenge
Banks and credit unions protect cash, customers and employees across branch lobbies, teller lines, vaults, safe-deposit areas, drive-through lanes, ATMs, night depositories, parking lots and operations centers, often across dozens or hundreds of branches. Federal bank-security rules require every institution to maintain a security program with procedures that help identify people who commit crimes against the bank, including maintaining a camera that records activity in the banking office, and to preserve evidence that may aid in their identification and prosecution. At the same time, fraud has grown sharply: check-fraud reports filed by financial institutions nearly doubled in a single year, with stolen checks cashed at branches, deposited through ATMs and rapidly withdrawn.
How MARCIA™ helps
The video that resolves these cases is often needed long after the event. A customer can dispute an unauthorized electronic transfer up to 60 days after receiving the statement that shows it, and some investigations can run as long as 90 days. By then, branch recorders sized around expensive disk may already have overwritten the footage. MARCIA™ keeps recent video on high-performance disk while preserving long-term footage economically on LTO. That makes it practical to keep more of every branch's video, at the resolution investigators need, without continually expanding expensive disk storage.
Better video, better outcomes
Better preserved video creates better outcomes. Clear, longer-retained footage can strengthen robbery and burglary investigations, ATM disputes and skimming cases, check and deposit fraud, account-takeover and elder financial exploitation cases, employee and insider investigations, customer complaints, liability claims and cooperation with law enforcement. Preserving more visual history can also give future analytics and AI systems a larger body of evidence to examine.
No new workflow for operators
MARCIA works behind the bank's existing video management system. Security and fraud teams continue to find historical footage on the familiar VMS timeline while MARCIA manages long-term storage and retrieval behind the scenes. Each institution keeps its own retention, privacy and evidence policies, while gaining a practical way to preserve more Trusted Visual Evidence across the entire branch network.
